Frequently asked questions
Your tan should fade evenly when the skin is properly prepped and cared for. Uneven or patchy fading typically happens when prep or aftercare is not followed consistently.
Here’s how to ensure the most even, natural fade:
Shower and exfoliate the day before your appointment, not the day of
Avoid applying lotions, oils, or any products to the skin on the day of your tan
Use tan-friendly body care products (see Prep + Care for recommendations)
Avoid excessive sweating, especially during the development period
Begin moisturizing twice daily starting 24 hours after your appointment
Add a tan-extending lotion to help maintain and support an even fade
Shave with a fresh razor and, if possible, use a tan-friendly shave product
Make sure your skin is hydrated from the inside out. Drink lots of water and moisturize your skin
Proper prep and aftercare make all the difference in how your tan looks and how it fades.
Yes, hormonal changes can impact how your spray tan develops and fades.
Your hormones regulate many functions in the body, including your skin. During menstruation, ovulation, pregnancy, or menopause, hormone fluctuations can affect your skin’s pH balance and moisture levels. When the skin is more dehydrated or slightly out of balance, it can make it more difficult for the DHA to fully develop.
Here’s what you may notice:
Your tan may develop slightly lighter than expected (sometimes 20–30% lighter)
Your tan may not last as long, typically fading closer to 6–8 days instead of the usual 7–10
Fading can happen a bit quicker, even with proper prep and aftercare
Even when everything is done correctly, your hormones can still influence the final result.
What can we do to help?
At every appointment, a pH-balancing spray is applied before your tan. This helps bring the skin back to an optimal state so the solution can absorb more evenly.
That said, while I can control the application and prep of your skin, I cannot control how your skin responds. If you are on or near your cycle, please let me know at your appointment so I can adjust your tan accordingly.

No, not when it’s done correctly.
Spray tan solutions have come a long way, and modern formulas are designed to work with your skin rather than against it. They are developed with advanced undertone technology to create a natural, believable glow.
Each tan is fully customized to your skin tone and undertones. This ensures your result looks even, balanced, and complementary to your natural colouring, rather than overly warm or orange.
An orange result is typically caused by improper solution selection, over-application, or poor prep/aftercare. With the right technique and a tailored formula, your tan will look like your skin, just enhanced.
A spray tan typically lasts 7+ days, but how it wears and how long it lasts depends heavily on your prep and aftercare.
Your skin is constantly renewing, so your tan will naturally fade as your skin exfoliates. The key to extending the life of your tan is creating the right canvas beforehand and maintaining it properly after.
To get the most out of your tan:
Properly exfoliate and prep your skin before your appointment
Keep your skin hydrated with consistent, tan-friendly moisturizing
Avoid products or activities that strip the skin (harsh soaps, long hot showers, excessive sweating)
Follow all aftercare instructions provided
When prep and aftercare are done correctly, your tan will not only last longer but also fade more evenly and naturally.
Yes. Proper preparation is essential for achieving the most even, long-lasting results.
Think of your skin as the foundation for your tan. When it’s smooth, balanced, and properly prepped, your tan will develop more evenly and fade more naturally.
For best results:
Exfoliate the night before your appointment to remove any dry or dead skin
Keep your skin well moisturized in the days leading up to your tan
Avoid applying lotions, oils, makeup, or deodorant on the day of your appointment
Preparation plays a major role in how your tan develops, looks, and wears over time.

You can wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable in. Options range from a two-piece swimsuit, bra and underwear, just underwear, or fully nude. Your comfort is always the priority.
Nipple covers are available if you prefer to avoid tan lines without wearing a bra.
For after your appointment, I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing. Tight clothing can rub against the skin and affect how your tan develops in certain areas. It’s also best to bring flip flops or sandals to avoid smudging your tan before your first rinse.
Choosing the right clothing helps protect your tan and ensures the best possible results.
A regular spray tan appointment typically takes about 20- 30 minutes from start to finish, depending on the client's needs. If adding full body contour that can take an extra 15-20 mins.
