PREP & CARE
Tan is booked what's next?

1
Prep skin 24 hours before your tan
Remove unwanted body hair if needed.
Exfoliate your body + face (use an exfoliating glove/mitt paired with a scrub). Pay close attention to elbows, knees, underarms, feet, hands and face.
Make sure exfoliating is the very last thing you do in the shower. This ensures all soap residues are scrubbed off the body.
In my opinion exfoliating is one of the most important things to do to prepare for a tan. Scroll down to Tips & Tricks for exfoliating advice!
If you have time, start exfoliating & moisturizing daily leading up to the day of the tan to ensure skin is super hydrated.
Plan any beauty services (ex. lashes, manicure, pedicure, hair) at least 24 hours prior to your tan.

2
Day of Tan
Avoid shaving/waxing right before your appointment. Ideally, this should be done the day before.
If you must shower the day of your appointment, do so at least 8 hours before and avoid using any soaps.
Wear dark, loose clothes such as baggy pjs or sweatpants. Please do not wear shorts or dresses. We want to avoid skin on skin contact and your skin rubbing on your car seats. (avoid wearing tight clothing such as leggings, body suits and sports bras)
No lotions, jewelry, oils, perfumes or deodorant. *If you have extremely dry skin you can put SPRAY TAN SAFE lotion on 8 hours before your appointment*
Prepare to be spray tanned in your chosen attire. (ex. a dark coloured swimsuit, underwear or nude). Nipple covers are provided at your appointment complimentary. I have thongs for sale in sizes XS-2xl for $6 if needed.

After Care
Avoid getting wet, sweating, working out, and high amounts of physical activity until your first shower.
Rinse off tan as instructed (leave on 8-16hr for standard tans, 2-5hr for rapid tans).
Use only lukewarm water with no soap during the first shower (a light amount of soap can be used on underarms and private areas if needed). Always pat dry with towel, never rub.
Avoid touching your body or face until you've showered off the bronzer, this could cause solution to get on the palms of your hands and discolor them!
Try to avoid skin to skin contact while tan is developing, this can cause sweating and affect the outcome of your tan.
Apply a body and facial moisturizer daily in order to maintain your glow.

Avoid long hot showers, excessive shaving, exfoliating skin care products (AHAs, BHAs, retinols etc.), body oils, saunas and hot tubs while tan is active.
Using spray tan friendly products is crucial for the longevity of your tan as well as having a nice, even fade. Read the Tips & Tricks to learn more.

TIPS & TRICKS
01
Exfoliating!
Exfoliating with a loofa or wash cloth will not be abrasive enough. I recommend using an exfoliating mitt paired with a scrub. My trick is to have a hot bath, 20 minutes of soaking in the tub should soften the skin. We then want to start exfoliating. Im not going to lie... exfoliating shouldn't feel nice, we are trying to remove a layer of skin so scrub, scrub, scrub! Exfoliating should be the very last thing you do in the shower or bath to ensure all soaps and shampoo residues are scrubbed off the body. I sell mitts and scrubs if you don't want to look in stores for one. Click here to check out the products I carry.
03
Dove or oil based lotions should absolutely be avoided as it prevents the skin from absorbing the solution and shortening the lifespan of your tan. Oil-based fragrances, perfumes, and even products like bug spray will also have this same negative effect; meaning direct skin contact with these products should be avoided as well for the sake of your gorgeous spray tan.
05
Stop the use of all anti-aging products 3 to 4 days before coming for your tan. They can cause the tan to develop patchy on the face.
7
Getting a tan for vacation and want to go swimming?
To ensure the longevity of your tan make sure to have a quick rinse with fresh water before and after getting out of pools, hot tubs & the ocean. Also applying sunscreen will help provide a layer of protection.
02
It's crucial when getting a spray tan to use proper products to prep and maintain after. Always google the products you use to ensure they are spray tan safe. I also carry products in the salon for purchase.
04
For maximum longevity of your spray tan it is advisable to moisturize twice daily. Best time to moisturize is straight after a shower. When you shower your skin absorbs moisture. You have a 4 minute window from the time you finish your shower until the oxygen starts to pull the moisture out from your skin. After your shower, dab, don’t rub the towel against your skin to dry off the water.
6
Shaving with a tan. I recommend using a new razor as old razors can be dull which will remove the tan. It's best to use razors without a moisture strip as that can leave a residue on the skin. The best razors are the Bick disposable dollar store ones! I suggest using your spray tan safe body wash to shave!

If you've has a sunburn within the last 4 weeks, its advisable to not get a spray tan.
